This piece is going to be the inspiration for their original pieces, which doesn’t mean they will copy it - rather, they will learn ideas, techniques and clever things Bach included that will help them create their own composition.

Discuss – which ideas, techniques and clever things have inspired you today? Which stand out as being particularly useful to you as a composer?

Homework: Before the next session listen to at least two other pieces by Bach or other similar violin concertos. Follow with the score where possible.
